Dover Lodge #489

Masonic Lodge of Westlake, Ohio

The Latest on Lodge

Brethren, now that summer has arrived it is a perfect time to reflect on the work done at Dover Lodge leading up to these warm months. Here are a few highlights:

  • One of our Brethren is hard at work using his expertise to re-point the brick work of the Lodge building. Soon will be the painting effort to keep your Lodge beautiful and protected from the weather!
  • We are about to host a rummage sale for the Order of the Eastern Stars. If you happen to be in the Lodge over the next few weeks, you will see them setting up. Contributions of items to sell are appreciated!
  • The Lodge hosted the Grand Lodge 2018 Committee meeting, to prepare for the possibility that our Deputy Grand Master may be elected in October to serve as Grand Master.
  • We also hosted the District Awards Night at the end of June. A large number of Lodges were in attendance, and enjoyed the refreshments prepared by the Brothers of Dover Lodge. We even received an award for our Degree Work! Congratulations!
  • Our Education Room continues to receive accolades from our visiting Brethren. Dover Lodge is truly viewed as a place to receive solid Masonic education and Light!
  • One of the Dover brethren hosted a recent off-site gathering where more than 4 hours of Masonic study and discourse took place. All in attendance had much to contemplate into the wee hours of the night and for days beyond.
  • In June we hosted our St. John the Baptist ceremony. This is a unique private celebration for Dover Lodge members and was our best attended yet!
  • Plans are under way to revive the Table Lodge tradition at Dover Lodge. Stay tuned for dates!
  • A Lodge cleanup day will take place in August. Dates to be posted.

As you can well see, Dover Lodge has been a buzz of activity thus far this year, and there is much more to come! We have brought new Brothers into the Fraternity and raised others. There will be educational opportunities over the summer, but also take time to reflect on how fortunate we are to have such active and committed members who take the Masonic journey as a serious and significant life-changing path.
